HVAC Valves & Actuators

HVAC valves and actuators are incredibly beneficial when it comes to achieving accurate control of your HVAC system. They are the link between the control system and the mechanical system. HVAC valves let us control the flow of air, water, gas and other liquid that can pass through the pipes.

Industrial Air’s custom engineered air valves are made for both high and low-pressure systems. They are used for clean air streams along with airstreams made up of linty materials.

Self-cleaning features come standard with each HVAC control valve, and they also include an operator that can assist you with the building of or process controls of the systems.

Industrial Air’s custom engineered air valves are designed for both high and low pressure systems. They are used for clean air streams as well as air streams containing linty materials. Each valve has self-cleaning features as standard. Each valve includes an operator to be used with the building or process controls systems.

HVAC Valves Types

An HVAC valve regulates the flow of gases or liquids in HVAC systems, and there are different kinds of HVAC valves types as well. High-pressure and low-pressure valves are a couple of the most common versions.
This is because they have a lot to do with the thermal expansion valve (TXV), a component in HVAC systems that regulates the amount of cold air released into the evaporator, which can also control how hot it can get.

High-pressure valve

A high pressure valve.

One of the TXV’s jobs is to separate the high-pressure and low-pressure sides of the HVAC system. This is how the high-pressure valve works: Liquid refrigerant (or cooling) enters the valve under high-pressure through the air system’s liquid line. However, its pressure is reduced when the TXV restricts the amount of liquid refrigerant that can pass through the evaporator.

Low-pressure valve

A low pressure valve.

The pressure drop that happens in the TXV is vital to the refrigeration system process. The low-pressure liquid and gas mixture continues to vaporize as it moves through the evaporator, absorbing heat from the system. For the HVAC system to work correctly, the TXV needs to accurately control the flow of liquid refrigerant to respond to system conditions.

HVAC Application of Valves

The heart of the HVAC system has valves on inlet and outlet lines of chilled and cooling water. They’re typically gate and globe valves used for seclusion and regulating purposes. The application of all HVAC valves is different. For example, water chillers work on vapor compression cycles or vapor absorption cycles. For example, refrigerant expansion valves are needed inside a water chiller cycle. Chilled and cooling water headers also require HVAC valves for isolation and heating/cooling exchange.
